Although it’s been a mild winter in Ohio, I’m sure many of us are still ready for the warmer weather that has hopes of sticking around longer than 24 hours, before instantly dropping to 20 degrees with snow! I know at Design Homes we are ready to put away the snow shovels and ready to bring out the lawn mower instead. Luckily it’s April, and spring has finally arrived, which comes with spring cleaning lists and organizing to-dos. However, not all the items on the list have to be about cleaning. We’ve got 5 fun ways to officially welcome spring into your home!
Give your living space a quick color makeover. Drop the dull, dark winter hues and embrace the lighter colors of spring. Whether that be yellow pillows used to pop against your white sofa or doing away with the heavy window coverings with matchstick blinds. You’ll instantly leave the winter blues behind.
Let the Fresh Air In. On a nice, early-spring day, open the windows of your home to let the fresh air in, and remove the stale, winter air.
Do some planting. There’s nothing that speaks spring quite like blooming trees, flowers, and plants. So take some time on a warm day and plant a small plant. They not only help embrace spring, but add a pop of color to your home.
Clean your windows. This may not sound fun, but you’ll be so much happier in the end! Wash away the winter dirt and grime, and give yourself clearer views of the beautiful spring blooms and weather. You may also notice your room getting a bit brighter!
Clear the kitchen counters. Time to rid yourself of the clutter! It’s only natural to let things accumulate on your kitchen counter especially from the daily hustle and bustle. It’s so important to take time out of your day to finally put those small appliances away, and throw out the old coffee beans. You’ll be very pleased when you’ve finally had the chance to wipe down your countertops and have the space to cook again.
